Do you agree with Ericsson about every lie? Choose one and argue that it isn't lying or argue that it's something else.
I thought that Ericsson writing about lie is very interesting. I do agree with what Ericsson is talking about when in comes to lying and how it is a cancer in our culture. She gave great arguments of different kinds of lies and I agree with her on the majority of them. However the point she made about group think I disagreed with, do to the fact that is more of a group thought rather then a lie. A lie is something that we tell or act out with the knowledge of it being wrong, with group think it is more like peer pressure or a herd mentality then a lie. With the example of Pearl Harbor that she gave was a perfect definition of group think, but to argue people really did believe that nothing was going to happen and other were just going on with the majority. Some had thoughts of an attack but no one knew anything. I can understand how it may seem like people would be lying to themselves in a group think mind but really its not a lie, its just they are too ignorant to think for themselves.
